Bombarda float fishing is an old Scandinavian method that they have been using successfully over the years for trout that now allows the bass angler to cast lightweight lures or flies out at a distance.
For bombarda float fishing, a hook length of 7 to 9 feet (2.1 to 2.7 meters)is recommended to keep the hook bait far from the float. This long hook length also allows for proper turnover of the bait or lure and reduces tangles, especially when stopping the line before the float hits the water.
The primary reason for using a longer hook length is to create distance between the float and the hook bait. This helps prevent the float from spooking fish that might be near the bait.
When casting, stopping the line just before the float lands allows the hook bait or lure to flip over and position itself correctly behind the float, minimizing tangles.
